What is Young & Free?

Young & Free Maine, powered by Maine's Credit Unions, is an ongoing effort to give the 18-to-25 crowd a voice, a head start and useful information

GIVING YOUNG PEOPLE A VOICE

We launched Young & Free Maine because we felt strongly that young people were not being well served by other financial institutions. Young people in Maine didn't have a voice when it came to getting what they needed financially. So we launched a search for a Spokesperson and gave that person a platform: the Young & Free Maine website.

Seth Poplaski is our current Young & Free Maine Spokesperson and his full-time job includes traveling to, attending and speaking at events throughout Maine and posting daily blog entries and weekly video blogs on the Young & Free Maine website. Seth is here to listen to you, and to get your thoughts and opinions about what you need from your financial institution.

The ultimate goal of Young & Free Maine is to help our credit unions connect with young people and to help us really understand how we can serve the 18-to-25 Maine crowd better than any other financial institution.

If you are between 18 and 25 years of age, you qualify! Product features and rewards may vary. Be sure to check out your local credit union for all the details. Find a participating credit union near you by entering your address and zip code. Then apply online or apply in person at a branch near you.

So many banking sites tell young people what they should be doing. We want to hear from you! Tell us what kind of products and services you want, and feel free to ask us questions and tell us your concerns. The Young & Free Maine Spokesperson has a platform to answer those questions and concerns. Meanwhile, Maine's Credit Unions are always there in the background, listening and responding, making sure the products we offer match your real needs.

But your whole life isn't just about finding out how to avoid identity theft, or how to live on a budget now that you're living away from home. It's about living! And that's why it's also our Spokesperson's job to hunt down and share the fun things that matter to you.
